A MOTORCYCLIST suffered serious injuries to his chest and body in a crash in Wythall, yesterday (Sunday) which involved the bike and a van.

The man, in his late 40s, was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital after the incident, which saw him thrown from his machine at around 5.15pm on Alcester Road.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic officer and the trust's CARE team attended the crash.

He said the motorcyclist was treated at the scene, before being driven to the hospital, where a trauma team was on standby.

“Fortunately, the man was wearing full leather protective clothing and an appropriate crash helmet which undoubtedly helped him survive the crash,” added the spokesman.
