A HAUL of outboard motors worth more than £15,000 were stolen from safety boats in Upton Warren in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 19).
The centre, which is opposite Webbs off the A38, has loaned boats from sailing and yachting clubs to make sure pupils from Witton Middle School could continue with its activities this week.
Some of the boats loaned are due to go back tomorrow (Friday), but the centre has made another arrangement to borrow boats that should keep them going for a couple of months.
Head of centre Phil Ascough said: "Its great the way people have rallied round."
It is suspected the thieves were well-organised, having cut the boats from the moorings, severed engine cables and removed the four to five thick bolts that attached the engines.
The engine serial numbers have been kept on record in case they are sold on or turn up.
West Mercia Police have urged any witnesses or anyone with any information to call them on 0300 333 3000, quoting reference number 88-N-190512.
