A BRAND new scout and guide headquaters will be officially opened next Saturday (May 12) after the old building was destroyed by fire eight years ago.
The new centre on Blackwell Road, Barnt Green, accommodates around 20 people and will be open to the public between 9am and 4.30pm.
The 30ft by 60ft hall will be ideal for ballroom dancing, exercise classes or meetings.
Scout and guide groups will use the building in the evening.
A number of organisations and people stumped up the money to pay for the centre, including schools, councils and village traders.
Ryder Construction put up the main building, but several other companies contributed the overall development of the project.
It was officailly issued the certificate of completion on December 7 last year.
Digby Lord Jones of Birmingham will perform the opening ceremony, hosted by Barnt Green Scout and Guid Field Trust, between 2pm and 4pm next Saturday.
Anyone interested in hiring the centre can call 0121 445 6979.
