YOUNGSTERS from Rednal Hill Junior School raised £112.73 for Longbridge Methodist Church Day Centre's minibus fund after putting on a charity musical production.
The cash raised from the show will help keep the service on the road.
The minibus is used to transport elderly and vulnerable residennts to the two day centre sessions at the church on Tuesdays and Fridays. It is also used by the church.
The need for funding to meet the minibus' running costs has increased recently after other cash sources the service used were withdrawn.
One of the children from Rednal Hill Junior School, Kirsty, said: “When we heard there was no funding, we just had to get involved, especially when we heard that, without the bus, the people couldn’t get picked up to see anyone or go out on trips.
Another youngster, Phoebe, added: “I know it’s only a small gesture but it’s good to support where we can.”
The children are now already planning their next event to raise even more funds for the cause.
A spokesperson for the users of Longbridge Methodist Church Day Centre said they would all like to say a huge thank you to pupils and staff of Rednal Hill Junior School for raising the sum.
"Contributions like this are a great help in enabling the day centre to offer its services to the vulnerable and elderly within the local community," he added.
