ASDA Bromsgrove has launched a community room for local groups and organisations who need space to meet.

The dedicated room, which has been made available in the store as part of its Community Life Scheme, is free to local, not-for-profit groups.

Schools, skill trainers, homework and health clubs, neighbourhood watch and community police groups are just some of the organisations eligible to use the room and are being encouraged to sign up for it.

Nigel Palmer, store manager, said: "We are opening up our training room at no cost because we realise that having a space to sit down and meet is becoming increasingly harder for not-for-profit organisations.

"We'll be keeping an events calendar on our community life noticeboard, so people are aware of the bigger events and those which are open to all."

Four weeks notice is required to use the room as is evidence of public liability insurance. Asda's community life champion, Dawn Bayliss, will act as a host, but then the group using the area will be left to their activity or meeting.

Mr Palmer added: "We will simply be there if they need us - it really is their space to use."

For more call Dawn Bayliss on 01527 839500 Ext 222 or email her Community_Bromsgrove@asda.co.uk
