A PERFORMANCE of Annie Get Your Gun will be staged by Bromsgrove Operatic Society (BOS) at Artrix from May 14 to 19.

The show is based on the true story of Annie Oakley, a country girl and sharpshooter who becomes the star of a Wild West show, where she falls in love with fellow performer and marksman Frank Butler.

The popular piece features well-known numbers, including There's No Business Like Show Business, Doin' What Comes Natur'lly and You Can't Get a Man with a Gun.

And there is a family affair for the society, with Ma Wilson played by Margaret Jones and Steven Albutt taking the role of Tommy Keeler - that is the first time a grandmother and grandson have taken principal roles in one of the group's shows.

Meanwhile, Gill Rowland, who plays Annie, and her husband Andy, the stage manager, share their wedding anniversary date with Annie Oakley and Frank Butler.

BOS chairman Ian G Cox said: "This magnificent Broadway musical is one for the whole family and, with rehearsals in full swing, we look forward to a successful week at Artrix."

Tickets, available by calling 01527 577330 or by visiting www.artrix.co.uk, are £12 on the Monday, £13 Tuesday and Wednesday and £14 Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
