A CHARFORD man has been jailed for four months for the possession and dealing of cannabis.

Craig Hampton, 29, was arrested back in 2011 after police found six cannabis plants in the bedroom of his Grafton Crescent home following a tip-off from neighbours. Hydroponic equipment and evidence of drug-dealing was also found at the property.

At Worcester Crown Court, Hampton admitted producing a controlled drug and possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

Co-defendant Anthony John Bird, 24, of Wesley Walk recieved an 80 hour community work order at an earlier hearing after admitting possession of a controlled drug.

PC Greg Moorman: "Drugs are a concern in the Charford area, as they are in many areas, and we hope this sentence sends a clear message to the community that we will not tolerate dealing.

"Drugs cause untold misery to people's lives and disrupting their supply is a priority for us."

He added he hoped the action would encourage others with any information on drug-dealing to pass it onto the police.

Drug-dealing will also be one of the priority topics at the next Charford PACT meeting held at St Andrew's Church on May 24 at 7pm.

Anyone with any information can call West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
