A TEENAGER was stabbed after a disturbance in Bromsgrove town centre on Wednesday night (April 11).

The 15-year-old boy with wounds to his back was found outside HSBC on the High Street by officers who had been called at 10.15pm to deal with disorder which had broken out opposite Love2Love nightclub in Worcester Road.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, where he was kept in over-night for observation. Five youths were arrested in connection with the disturbance, which involved a large number of young people.

The police are now studying CCTV footage and want any witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward and help them piece together what hapened.

Det Con Nadia Prescott said: "We understand the disturbance that broke out involved a number of people who had attended an under 18s disco at Love2Love.

"One line of investigation which we are following up is that what happened last night may have been connected with postings on social networking sites in recent days.

"We are particularly interested in talking to anyone who is aware of that and may be able to help our inquiries."

Anyone with any information should call Bromsgrove CID on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

At the time The Standard went to press yesterday (Thursday), five youths, who were arrested on suspicion of wounding, remained in custody at police stations across North Worcestershire, where they were being quizzed by officers.

The 15-year-old victim's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
