Car key warning after Renault stolen from Rednal

A SILVER Renault Megane, with the registration number SP05 VGT, was taken from the driveway of a property in Rednal after the car keys were stolen fron the porch.

The incident happened on Eachway between 8.45pm on Sunday (March 25) and 8am on Monday (March 26) after the car keys, which were left in the front porch, were hooked with a metal pole.

The owners, who had locked the vehicle before parking it on the driveway, discovered the car was missing on Monday morning and found the pole hanging out of the letterbox.

PC Cheryl Jones appealed for any witnesses, anyone who had seen the car since or anyone with any information on the incident to call her on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

And she urged other residents to ensure their car keys were not on show or easily accessible.

"It only takes a few moments for an offender to reach through an open window, letterbox or even a cat flap with a coat hanger or similar to reach keys and you would be none the wiser until you noticed your car gone," she added.
