RESIDENTS in Bromsgrove and Redditch are being urged to spread some Easter cheer to our UK servicemen and women who are based abroad.
The two towns’ branch of Support Our Soldiers is looking for donations of small Easter eggs, Cadbury’s Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs for its latest drive.
And it is appealing for people to donate plain Easter cards and small decorations, such as chicks, so they can be sent out to soldiers for them to send back to their families.
The charity is also always on the look-out for food donations to send out packages to the troops.
Items for those can include sweets, crisps, chocolate, noodles and biscuits.
The soldiers also welcome herbs and spices (in non-glass containers) as the food they are given is often bland.
Rebecca Hancock, the Bromsgrove and Redditch Support Our Soldiers co-ordinator, said: “It is on special occasions like Easter and Christmas when the troops can do with a real morale boost.
“And receiving chocolate gifts and being able to send cards to their loved ones will provide just that - I hope Standard readers will rise to the challenge again with our Easter campaign.”
The deadline for donations, which can be dropped off at The Standard’s offices in Bromsgrove and Redditch, is February 29.
