A BURNS’ Night Supper held in aid of the St John’s Church Landmark II appeal has raised more than £1,200 for the cause.
The sell-out event was the campaign’s first monthly fund-raiser and was held in the church Hall.
It featured a three-course Scottish supper, single malt whisky tasting led by Revd David Ashforth, the parade of the Haggis and traditional Burns’ Night toasts.
St John’s Church’s Rev Chris Wingfield has hailed the Burns’ Night Supper a success and is hoping to make it an annual event.
The Landmark II appeal, aimed at raising £200,000 for Bromsgrove’s historic St John’s Church, was officially launched last month.
The funds will be put towards the cost of a new church roof and heating system, securing the building’s long-term future so it can serve the people of Bromsgrove for many years to come.
So far, members of the congregation have raised over £8,500 for the appeal and the team is now applying for grants from local organisations and charitable trusts.
The next event is a pancake evening on Shrove Tuesday (February 21).
Any residents or organisations interested in finding out more about the Landmark II campaign, organising activities or the Shrove Tuesday event should call appeal organiser Dr John Jackson on 0121 447 8011 or e-mail: john@jacksonconsulting.eu
