A SELECTION of more than 30 real ales and eight ciders and perries will be on offer at the sixth annual Winter Ales Festival, which has been organised by the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).

The event takes place next Friday and Saturday (February 3 and 4) at Rocklands Social Club and will be raising funds for this year's charity, MacMillan Cancer Support, through a number of festival games.

The festival, which features ales from local breweries, such as Weatheroak, Kinver, Titanic and Wye Valley, will be open from 5pm to 11pm on the Friday and from 11am to 11pm on the Saturday.

There will also be food available, another separate bar and live music on the Saturday evening from Black Country acoustic duo 5 minus 3.

Standard entrance, which includes a festival glass and programme, is £4, with a discount for card-carrying CAMRA members.

Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA branch chairman Paul Richards said the festival provided a great opportunity for residents to try traditional beers and ciders they would not normally find in the pub.

He added: "So if you’ve never been to a beer festival before, why not make this your first?"
