A BROMSGROVE ballet dancer has been given a place at a prestigious London dance school.
Nikki Foulkes, 17, who has just completed her first term at London’s Central School of Ballet, fended off more than 400 other students to gain her place.
The former Dodderhill School pupil has been an avid dancer since she was two and attended the Cecilia Hall Dance Centre in Malvern.
Nikki is one of only 38 on her degree course, which focuses on classical ballet and contemporary dance.
There are exciting times ahead for Nikki who, during her final year, will be given the opportunity to tour nationally.
She said: “I’ve now completed the first term at Central School of Ballet and it’s been hard work but fun too.
“We train at least six-hours-a-day during the week and take classes on Saturday morning too.
“You have to be dedicated to make it to the top of this profession but it’s my dream to be a dancer at one of the top ballet companies when I graduate.’’
Former pupils of the ballet school have gone onto companies including English National Ballet and Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, among others.
