MORE than half of the homes which have been built on Longbridge's Park View development have already been sold in just four months.
St Modwen Homes has seen a flurry of sales of properties on the former MG Rover works and there are now just 47 left of the 113 homes available.
Park View is St Modwen Homes' first development and has been built in partnership with the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
There is still a selection of homes available on the site, including two-bedroom houses starting from £149,500 and four-bedroom properties priced from £249,500. There are also luxury one and two-bedroom apartments available from £125,000.
Most of the homes have been bought by people already living locally.
One of them is Lian Purnell, a former MG Rover Worker who has purchased a four-bedroom detached house and is moving to Park View from Bromsgrove.
His father and grandfather worked in the former Longbridge general office which was on the Park View site, the show home is built where his father worked and his new four-bedroom property is on the spot where his grandfather worked.
He said he saw this as a once in a lifetime opportunity to live in a home which he had strong and unique family ties to.
He said: "It is tremendous to see the regeneration of the area take place, with a range of new development activity creating lots of different job opportunities.
"Local people are really supportive of what's happening and are delighted with the high quality of the new houses and commercial buildings."
Since acquiring the 468-acre site in 2003, St Modwen has invested more than £85million at Longbridge.
The development of the technology park and Cofton Centre has already seen 660 new permanent jobs created and the new £66million state-of-the-art Bournville College has now opened.
New infrastructure improvements are being made and work on the new Longbridge town centre, which will feature an 85,000sq ft Sainsbury’s store, is scheduled to start.
The Park View show homes are located off Lowhill Lane - two fully-furnished show homes are available to view, seven-days-a-week between 10am to 6pm - a four-bedroom home and a two-bedroom property.
