RESIDENTS in a Bromsgrove care home can now enjoy their favourite tipple at the pub - without even leaving the building.
Staff at Regents Court, Stourbridge Road, have opened The Albert Arms, where those living there can get away to for a night out in the comfort of their own home.
And, as well as all of the things you would expect in a traditonal tavern, such as drinks, a full bar, mini juke-box, playing 40s and 50s music, and pub-style table and chairs, there is also some traditional pub grub on offer, including ploughman’s lunches and pies.
To coincide with its official opening on Wednesday (January 18), an old-fashioned pub themed day was held where staff dressed in traditional costumes.
Home administrator Claire Cards said: “Many of our residents are no longer able to get out to the pub like they used to when they were younger - so we thought we would bring the pub to them.
“The pub is all about helping residents reminisce and socialise in a different environment.”
The Albert Arms - named after the home’s ground-floor Albert Unit - was set up using some of the cash from a £3,750 Worcester Dementia Standard grant.
The rest of the cash has been used to improve the ‘snoozelum’ - a room decorated and equipped to resemble a beach, with mood lighting, soothing sounds and clouds painted on the ceiling.
