THOSE driving electric vehicles will now be able to get them charged in Bromsgrove after the introduction of a recharging station just outside the town centre.

The point. based at HLM garage, Factory Lane, which is off the Worcester Road, offers three different charging speeds - 13amp, 16amp and 32amp.

As well as enabling drivers to recharge their cars, staff from the garage will even take the drivers to the shops in one of their cars and collect them and their shopping when they are done.

Owner Hamish Lindsay said: “We pride ourselves on embracing new technology and electric vehicles are the future.

"If people also want to take advantage of one of our other services, such as a vehicle check, tuning, servicing and MOTs, we can do that too with our drop and shop service.”

The charging point introduction has been supported by Worcestershire County Council, which has already put up a sign on the main road making drivers aware that it is there is a recharging point available.

Sally Everest, the authority's network control manager, said: “Only when enough charging stations are in place will more people have the confidence to switch from fossil fuel-driven cars to electric vehicles.

"The county council is committed to reducing pollution and delighted to let people know Bromsgrove now has its first electric vehicle charging station.”
